Specialty coverage
Beyond the core policies, many businesses need coverage built for a specific risk: higher liability limits, tools and equipment that travel, a building under construction, or protection against losing a key person.
What is specialty insurance?
Specialty commercial insurance covers risks that standard liability and property policies leave out or don't insure enough. Common examples are commercial umbrella and excess liability for higher limits, inland marine for tools, equipment and property on the move, builder's risk for buildings under construction, equipment breakdown, and key person and buy/sell coverage that protects a business when an owner or leader dies or becomes disabled. Unusual or higher-risk businesses may also need specialty (excess and surplus lines) carriers.
What we place
Commercial umbrella & excess
Extra liability limits over your general liability, auto and employer's liability, often required by contracts.
Inland marine & tools
Equipment, tools and property in transit or at job sites, which standard property policies often don't cover.
Builder's risk
Buildings and materials while they're under construction or renovation.
Equipment breakdown
Mechanical and electrical breakdown of the machines your business depends on.
Key person & buy/sell
Life and disability coverage that funds a buyout or keeps the business steady if a key person is lost.
Hard-to-place risks
Specialty markets for businesses standard carriers decline or limit.

How much umbrella coverage do I need?
It depends on your contracts, your assets and your industry. Many contracts require $1 million to $5 million in umbrella limits; we look at your exposures and what your clients and landlords require.
Why isn't my equipment covered at the job site?
Commercial property policies generally cover property at your listed locations. Tools and equipment that move between job sites usually need an inland marine policy.
What if a carrier has declined my business?
We work with specialty carriers that write risks the standard market won't, and can often find coverage that fits.
