ERISA compliance
ERISA isn't just about retirement plans. Almost every private employer that offers health or welfare benefits has ERISA duties, whatever its size.

Every plan needs its paperwork. We make sure yours is complete.
What does ERISA require?
ERISA applies to nearly all private-sector employer health and welfare plans, regardless of company size. Each plan needs a written plan document and a Summary Plan Description given to participants, and larger or funded plans file Form 5500 each year. Carrier certificates usually don't meet these rules on their own, so many employers use a wrap document that ties every benefit together.

Does ERISA apply to small businesses?
Yes. ERISA applies to private-sector employer health and welfare plans of any size. Small fully insured plans are usually exempt from filing Form 5500, but still need a plan document and SPD.
What is a wrap document?
A wrap document combines all of your welfare benefits into one ERISA plan document and SPD, filling in the provisions carrier booklets leave out.
When is Form 5500 due?
By the last day of the seventh month after the plan year ends, which is July 31 for calendar-year plans. A 2½-month extension is available with Form 5558.
